Meet Joel Sanchez, LCSW

As a bicultural Mexican-American psychotherapist, I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of New York (license number 080198).

I received my Master of Social Work degree from the Smith College School for Social Work in 2006. After graduation, I worked in outpatient mental health facilities in New York City in the Bronx and Washington Heights, serving the Latine community.

In 2012, in order to live life at a slower pace, I moved with my family to the Catskills in New York State, where I started a very successful private practice. As the only full time, native Spanish speaking private psychotherapist in Sullivan County, I provided mental health services to the local community, as well as immigrants from numerous Latin American countries.

In addition to my Master of Social Work degree, I also hold a Master of Fine Arts degree in Theatre from Columbia University, a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Theatre from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a Diploma in Acting from The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts.

What Others Are Saying

“My husband and I were struggling with his affair. I was in desperate need of guidance and I found Joel. He was our savior. In less than a year’s time, I went from feeling our eight year marriage was over to knowing we could make it through anything. Joel helped us to see who we are at our core and how to better communicate with each other. I learned things about myself and my husband in counseling that I hadn’t figured out in all those years on our own. We would not be where we are today without Joel.”
